interface II

So we're into the sixth version of my blog after the last version hung around for a year or so.

Now, a bit of info on this image. This photo was taken one lovely spring afternoon, featuring the iconic Old Well from the UNC Chapel Hill campus. I would like to think of this image as a tribute to my time in UNC Chapel Hill, the awesome friends I made and the memories I now hold dear.

A milestone in my life indeed.

I've dropped the tagboard cos its useless and taking eons to load. But thanks to Angela who helped me set it up, I still do like and will miss the pink interface.

So yeah, it's the sixth one you fellas!

Yours.

It's approximately half and hour before you guys at home celebrate 2008 and my day has just begun for me over on this side. But my mind, and thoughts are with you all, I'm almost feeling 11:30pm here!

Nevertheless, here's a blessed and warm 2008 for all of you out there. Take care and know that I miss you guys and wished you were here with me.

Be well, be safe and God bless!

Yours,

Hi all,

I am in New York now (as you probably already know) but very unfortunately have no access to internet on my laptop. So lovely photos have to wait.

I went to Broadway, Times Square and Rockerfeller Center today and man the photos look darn good. Do look out for that when I can upload em probably on Jan 6th when I move into my dorm.

Anyway, I watched "
The Color Purple" at Broadway Theatre and manage to get "Rush Tickets", meaning I paid dirt cheap prices for front row seats! Woohoo! That amounts to $26.50 for being 5 metres away from Fantasia. Did I mention that Fantasia was the lead? Oh man, she was so good and thank goodness I managed to catch her cos she would be ending her run come Jan 7th.

Times Square and Rockerfeller was really crowded, I can't imagine how it would be like tomorrow. But the photos turned out lovely. I wish there was a way I could share it with you now.

Trivia 1: You know the typical NY scene where you see smoke coming out of manholes from the road? The smoke stinks! Sewage, like shit. I nearly puked when I crossed the road. It ain't cool, trust me.

Else, I survived subway rides between Manhattan to Queens, where I'm stayin at the moment.

I am still wondering what makes NY a world/global city despite its homeless, stinkin manholes and trains in a horrible state. And I am wondering why Singapore, having almost the best and most efficient city planning/transportation in the world, fail to make the mark.

There is something out there, some X-factor which grips the attention of the world that draws people from all corners into this land we call New York. Something tells me it is the lights everywhere, but I suspect there is more to that.

As much as the joy of traveling hinges on the places and sights I see, I have realised that it is very much dependant, too, on the people I meet or travel with.

Being alone in LA was fun but the empty seat across my breakfast table never fail to remind me of you people back home.

Anyway I miss Asian food already, though its only like 3 days since I last had a Jap meal. Gonna head down to chinatown in NY when I get there tmr morning.

Farewell LA, you've been good to me but I really want to have my proper chinese food, not Panda Express.

p/s: i'm so glad to know that they are changing the uber slippery seats at the M RT stations.

Tomorrow I leave LA for NY on a red-eye flight, and I'm looking forward more to NY than I was for LA. Gonna hit Broadway! and save some other stuff to explore with Junhan the next times we're there. Yes, you read it right many next timeS I hope.

I'm actually now in my LA hotel room, and awaiting dinner with Jeff in about an hour's time. I know its says 27th Dec but it really is 6pm on 26th Dec. And I just woke up from a nap cos the time difference is killing me.

Oh man, I miss Japan!

Hello everyone! Yes yes, mandatory post from the airport. Still have time before I board my plane so I'm tapping away, trying to use up all my 100yen coins.

The sun is quickly setting, though it's merely 4:30pm and I'm looking forward to sleeping on the plane cos I've been having too little sleep!

There's internet access in my hotel room in LA so I guess I'll blog more then.

Take care!

Thank God for good results as well.

Post-Japan.

What can I say about two cities that left me totally in awe and amazement? I really wonder what makes Tokyo tick. It seems to be bounded by extremes - culture, technology, youth culture, politeness, warmth, winter.

Surprisingly, I feel very safe in this big city, alone and away from family.

One chapter's ending and another awaiting to be written. Tomorrow I leave for LA, and thankfully I'm only there for 3 days. I'll probably meet Jeff up but that's pending.

G'nite world, g'nite Japan and the lovely people that made my stay here one I'll always remember. I do not know when our paths will ever cross again, but I'm glad we've been at least a part of each other's life - even for the briefest moment of laughter and joy.

Oops, that should read "Mutu-san and HER boyfriend."

I'm still in Tokyo by the way. Flying off on 26th.

These 2 days have really been a great cultural immersion for me, something I'll probably never get with a conventional tour. I couldn't have foreseen knowing so many new friends when I started off this trip.

What an eye opener!
