interface II

So we're into the sixth version of my blog after the last version hung around for a year or so.

Now, a bit of info on this image. This photo was taken one lovely spring afternoon, featuring the iconic Old Well from the UNC Chapel Hill campus. I would like to think of this image as a tribute to my time in UNC Chapel Hill, the awesome friends I made and the memories I now hold dear.

A milestone in my life indeed.

I've dropped the tagboard cos its useless and taking eons to load. But thanks to Angela who helped me set it up, I still do like and will miss the pink interface.

So yeah, it's the sixth one you fellas!

Yours.

My yesterdays are all boxed up and neatly put away. Every now and then, they come to mind to remind me of a past I can smile about, I frown at, and some I rather not be reminded of at all.

Well things were always so sweet and innocent then but things are very different now. We've all grown up and collected baggages along the way - some we carry more willingly than others. Sometimes we wish we could change something in the past, but we are too clever to know that that is never possible. So we live in the shadows of these actions or inactions, whether we like it or not and know that we can only look into the future for that is the only way to go.

Life is like a river, and a river never passes through the same destination twice. This, as some say, is the closest metaphor to the meaning of life. So never look back.

But what happens when it is the past that comes looking for us? A mistake, a regret, a past that haunts. It is all too easy to say that we look forward, but sometimes, we are forced to look back.

So I take my words back. In life, always have one foot in the past, and the other towards the future. For the past will serve as a direction to the future. Just as how we are made to walk, one foot has always to be behind another, so that the foot from behind (the past) pushes forth to make way forward. Have two feet in line, and we find ourselves standing still.

I believe God gave us memory for a purpose, so that past happiness or regrets serve a greater purspose and larger force in life, once we look back on them.

Be like a river that flows
Silent in the middle of the night
Not fearing the dark of the night,
Reflecting any star that is in the sky.
And if the sky fills with clouds,
Clouds are water, like the river, so
Reflect them too with no regret In the silent depth.
