interface II

So we're into the sixth version of my blog after the last version hung around for a year or so.

Now, a bit of info on this image. This photo was taken one lovely spring afternoon, featuring the iconic Old Well from the UNC Chapel Hill campus. I would like to think of this image as a tribute to my time in UNC Chapel Hill, the awesome friends I made and the memories I now hold dear.

A milestone in my life indeed.

I've dropped the tagboard cos its useless and taking eons to load. But thanks to Angela who helped me set it up, I still do like and will miss the pink interface.

So yeah, it's the sixth one you fellas!

Yours.

Really wanted to blog about my fieldtrip around Singapore at the start of the mid-semester break. It has got to be one of the best fieldtrips ever cos Prof Savage (yes yes I know but he's really nice) has got to be one of the most knowledgeable people around.

It's pretty much a fieldtrip about Singapore through the roads not taken, or through familiar sites but hearing stories we never knew.

This was taken at a Indian temple somewhere near the Duxton Plain, where devotees smash coconuts to release sorrow and frustration. I really mean smash, cos they would take a cocomut and throw it at some designated corner with such force until it breaks apart. talka bout stress relief.

Then there's me at Keong Saik Street learning about brothels and prostitutes and how to identify them. Cool stuff we learn in uni huh.

Then of course there is the Chinatown fare, and the morbid story of how one of the streets there used to be called Death street cos it housed hospices where people check in to die.

That's Prof Savage explaining across the Sri M\ariamman temple.

Chinatown. Apparently rejuvenation efforts somewhat made the place more sterile. Lots of academic literature have been written about it.

Next up, the A\rmenian Church, where Miss Joaquim, founder of our national flower is buried.
n621490303_1770603_7410
Last stop, Fort C\anning, where if you notice, grave stones line the walls. Fort C\anning is the first Christian C\emetery in Sg and (ironically) the field where concerts are held is actually the burial grounds. To think I was stomping and jumping on that field at S\ingfest.

That's my tutorial/group members!

Now that's a wrap!

We obviously went to more places than featured here but there are just too many photos to post anyway. But the fieldtrip has got to be one of the best N\US has to offer.
