Setting up the Christmas tree. It's really the act of doing something together as a family that was fun. Its a humble and small tree, but its a good tree. Apparently this tree is as real as it gets, it even sheds those plastic-y leaves over time.
It's a pity I wouldn't be around when its time to keep it, but I am more looking forward to this journey than ever, though I can't believe that I have 2 weekends left before I fly! Time is seemed to have slipped me by - just like that.I am 2 papers down and 3 more to go. Lets fight the good fight and finish this race.

The smell of rain.He was too familiar with the smell of rain, or a impending shower in a distance. He was afterall, a child of the tropics, brought up to live with the fickle weather. The skies darken and the clouds hung low and dim. Soon, the droplets fell and he took one deep breath. The smell of raw water on bare concrete. Mother nature's tears rolled down shards of glass before him, leaving shadows streaming down his cheeks, as if he was himself taking in the emotions of a greater unknown entity - someone so distant yet he knew so well.Often in his pensive mood, he stops and ponders. There are no answers, but he is not seeking one either. Life is but a state of wonder, a search for reconciliation, a journey back home.

So I have been hiding the past few days in Bintan, tugged away from muggers, and had the pleasure of studying and reading under the hot hot sun, beside the South China Sea.It was a good rest, and a good break to allow me to study without urban distractions.

And to celebrate her birthday (which is today but celebrated on fri), we headed off first to Arab Street, where we had some really exotic and great tasting Turkish/Middle Eastern food. The ambience and place was cool as well, and I really think that the Arab Street area has great potential for renewal. After which we said goodbye to our non-alcohol consuming best friend and made our way to MOS where we partied in optimal fun mode.Optimal fun actually means we didnt get ourselves pissed drunk or even high, but we had loads of fun dancing - where ever we wanted to. Funny how our conversation of the night centered around how we are all 23 and old, listening to 987fm can be quite a pain to the ears and we rather settle for just class95 instead. It was funny cos, the photos above were taken in Smoove, the RnB room, where we had some fun at first, till the music became too loud and too trashy. That's until we got to the....Retro Room!We instantly litted up. Dancing balls, sat-fever-night-like dance floor - we finally found and affirmed the place where we belonged.Awesome night out I must say, a first for not having me high and silly in a club and embarrassing everyone.Happy 23rd Jess!

Terminal 3
Simply impressive. And I really mean that its design is simple and impressive.
Clockwise (from top left): The special roof is quite a masterpiece, which as we all know can shift its tilt to allow natural light in. The green wall, which is the five-storey wall of climbers, provides a soft feature, separated by almost silent waterfalls. The entire departure hall from the upper level. The check in rows, which are very nicely lit with air-con vents above it to save energy (as oppose to placing air-con vents near the ceiling).
Clockwise (from top left): The departure gate, which looks pretty darn good, taking a circular form. Into the restricted zone, there's gonna be a Brewerkz! The huge and vast immigration hall (which visitors from the departure hall can look into). Lastly, the boarding gates, which unlike T1 and T2, is taking the cluster form (where 4 gates share one waiting area), much like the Incheon airport in Seoul.Me fooling around behind the check in counter.Lastly, the skytrain from T3 to T2 provides a really good view of the whole airport vicinity, these photos were taken on the sky train towards T2.In all, T3 is of quite a good design - simple, clean, glassy. Though I felt that more warmth could have been infused (especially at the arrival hall) using timber and nice lighting. But it is probably a design that would stand the test of time, not too opulent or gaudy like the Dubai airport I visited in May. Quite well done.

In our new bodies ina new kingdom, will you remember me and can I amongst our people recognize you?In the painless sinlessrealm we will hence live, will we remember the tearsthat has brought us as one, striving against the incredible odds? For eternity in a spotless, blameless paradise, can we grapple the beautyof the temporal, and the understand whatit means to cherish? Why ask if only He knows, why question when there is trust?Only He knows.Only He knows my heart.* *I wonder if its valid to ask of these things so abstract, but only God knows how much I miss my grandma and long to see her again.

Its exactly a month before I leave everything behind.I guess a sentimental shit like me always gets caught up between the past and the future. Sometimes I wished my go-forth spirit be more bold and careless to venture out. But that being said, I've gotta say I'm excited too - all the travelling, people to meet, sights to see - I just can't wait.

My skin looks yellowish under the fluorescent lights in AS7's com lab. That's where I am now anyway. Hopefully its just the lights and not how my skin actually looks. And even if it was yellow, I have no time left in Singapore to tan it.I remembered how 4K used to head to the beach almost every week at the tail end of the Sec 4 year. How much fun it was. Oh, and basketball too. Almost everyone made it to the Teban (or was it Pandan) CC after school for a very unorthodox game where rules were bent, roles were out of the world and fun was endless. Oh man, those days were really something. 4K was quite an amazing class (which explains how the people there form the largest and closest part of my social life today).I'm just blabbering to waste time on campus, though the impending exams really should give me reason not to be blogging now.Okay, time to head off to Mr Blair's talk.

This is not the first time I'm saying this, but I'm just stating for the record.I really wish I had time for things like watching tv.I remember how I'd look forward to nights with Channel 5, back in the secondary 3/4 days. Each day had its fair share of shows I love - Charmed, Ally, Gilmore, Popstars, Popular, Amazing Race, Survivor blah blah. Or even just watching channel news asia, even though news get repeated ever so often. Back then, I could remember the joy of just sitting in front of the tv set, comfortably slouched on the sofa (or bed) and allowing the nights to be taken away by these ever so captivating, funny, witty shows.Fastforward to today. Well, gilmore girls are still showing (on sundays now, the last I heard), and the only tv shows I watch are the late night repeats and often falling asleep on them. Survivors became a season too many and David E Kelly stopped producing Ally. I really liked Ally.No words can really capture the happiness and contentment in watching those shows, especially when they bring you to another world of imagination, and for that one hour, nothing else really matters.I am not complaining really. What has essentially replaced tv time would be chilling with the bunch at some coffee joint or bar/pub/cafe, the very same bunch who watched the same shows as I did back in the rv days. Today, we sit out reminiscing about shows of an era gone by. But it was all a lovely memory. Very lovely.

I look quite like a scientist, less the lab coat huh. Was at vic's lab at our nation's oldest hospital, after office hours, which explained how I managed the tour of the place. I would describe that place as cosy, though I know its quite a juxtaposition to the popular construct of what a scientific lab should look/feel like. And this is her workdesk, in a room adjoining the sorta lab.* *I can't believe how reading week is slowly creeping into my life, again. But beyond the turbulance I see a weird unknown. As the day draws near to the day I leave, I wonder if I am making a big fuss out of the whole idea of leaving at all. But how can I react like any other, knowing full well that I'm different? And how beautiful and precious this difference is - the close knit family, the aging and frail grandparents whom I love, my superbly wonderful friends. But I've worked it out, pretty much, to really appreciate the situation. I can't sum it up better than Mr A-Z does:It takes a night to make it dawnAnd it takes a day to make you yawn brotherAnd it takes some old to make you youngIt takes some cold to know the sunIt takes the one to have the otherAnd it takes no time to fall in loveBut it takes you years to know what love isAnd it takes some fears to make you trustIt takes some tears to make it rustIt takes the dust to have it polishedLife is wonderful.
